Here’s Everything To Know About Condo Unit And Its Ownership

One common question asked before buying the idea of Condo units is,

What is the real difference between apartments and Condos? Is there any actual distinction or ‘Condominium’ is a mere fancy name for a sophisticated group of people?

As a matter of fact, the Singapore housing society has fancy residential units in the name Jade scape condo. These units come under the dicey confusion between apartments and condos.

We understand why the distinction is distasteful to the mind. With a view to separate Condos from other housing projects, read the following excerpt. A finely penned paragraph will tell the inclusions and exclusions of a Condo unit.

The Pioneers of A Condo

You might have heard people quoting a very common difference, Condos are apartments with ownership. The distinction not entirely incorrect, however, there more to the story.

Condos are constructed both in a building with other house owners as well as separate units on a private or distant land. What brings the Condo owners together, are the shared amenities. For example, the yard, clubhouse, activity area, garage, gym and many more.

The amenities change as per the different plans of the building. Check the floor plan of every project to make sure what amenities you will be treated with. Like, when you view the jade scape floor plan, there will be space for Swimming area, Gym centre, a Clubhouse, Tennis court, Pets corner and many more to count.

Facilities keep changing but the only thing that remains constant is ownership of each amenity.

How? The answer is simple, Condo units have a management committee which demands fees from every owner to look after the common amenities on their behalf.

The Bridge to Decide between Condos and Apartments

Condominiums are designed with a very simple rule, own the flat and share the amenities. It does not specify that you have to live with neighbours. As we discussed, there are properties with shared facilities yet distant from one another.

Perhaps, Condos are for a group of people who like to cut-down on their responsibilities and handover the major tasks to management. However, if you wish to give up the obligation of managing, the board will have its own set of rules and regulations. Just like Jade scape units, which brings a short yet important list of rules for every house owner. (in the interest of everyone’s safety).

On the other hand, if are a very private person and do not like share space, let’s say Condos are not the best option. Even with distant units, you will have to abide by the rules of the building and maintain peace with other homeowners.
